Access & Review lets you obtain a copy of your own Illinois criminal history record to review and challenge any inaccurate or incomplete information.
What Is Access & Review?
Access & Review is the fingerprint-based process to obtain your personal Illinois criminal history record—commonly called a “Rap Sheet.” Results are returned directly to you for private review.
- Method: Live-scan fingerprints submitted to the Illinois State Police (ISP).
- Privacy: Results are delivered to you, not to an employer or third party.
- Tracking: You’ll receive a Transaction Control Number (TCN) receipt at time of service.

How It Works with NexGen
- Bring a valid government-issued photo ID.
- We capture your fingerprints via live scan.
- NexGen Biometrics automatically transmits your fingerprints to the Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification to obtain a copy of your Illinois criminal history record (your “Rap Sheet”).
- ISP processes your request and sends results to you.
Processing times are set by ISP and may vary.

Please note: your Illinois criminal history record (Rap Sheet) will typically list:
- The offenses you were arrested for
- The offenses you were charged with
- The outcome of the cases, including any sentences you received
